The theme for 2007 - 2008 is "I can make a difference by ..."

The National PTA Reflections Program is an art recognition and achievement program for students.  The Reflections program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme. 

Each student may enter in any or all of the six art categories and may enter as many works of art as desired:

• Literature
• Musical Composition  (primary grades can be recordings of singing, no notation required... see rules)
• Photography
• Visual Arts
• Dance Choreography
• Film/Video Production

If your student is interested in participating please fill out the bottom of the green flyer included in the first day packets and return to the Buena Vista front office. 

Volunteers are needed for set-up, ticket sales, and to work food and game booths for an hour.  The children enjoy this event very much! 

We will also have our Silent Auction baskets for sale during this event.  Proceeds from the Silent Auction will go directly toward field trip funding.

We hold one Book Fair in the fall and another in the spring.  The Book Fair promotes reading, teaches students about how to select a book at their reading level.   The proceeds from the Book Fair help purchase books for each teacher and for the library.  

We have many family fun nights during the year.   This includes a free Craft Night in the fall for making Holiday items.   We have a PCPA production.   We had the Chinese acrobats in 2007.   We also held our first annual family reading night.    As soon as dates are announced, we'll have more information posted here, and flyers will be sent home.

Red Ribbon Week is the last week in October and is an important tradition that focuses on teaching students to make good choices.   During this week we have daily activities that focus on staying away from drugs and choosing to be healthy.  You'll see ribbons on the fence and students wear red wristbands to demonstrate their commitment to a healthy lifestyle. 

Buena Vista PTA makes generous donations to school enrichment programs, such as the 5th grade Catalina Trip, the PE Program, other field trips, Computer Lab, assemblies, school supplies, student awards, and more.  We encourage you to be involved and informed about the contributions of PTA to our school.  Our budget for 2007-2008 will be discussed during Back to School Night in the fall.   Please attend and participate in this very important process.
