Dear Parents,

As you know, I am beginning my second year at Buena Vista Elementary School. We had our challenges last year with modernization efforts and our consequent move to the La Mesa campus. In retrospect, the good news has been that the creative and resourceful Buena Vista staff continued to make every effort to meet the needs of each student. Now that we are home again, I fully expect that our educational year will be steady in regard to educational, social and emotional gains. We fully intend to live up to our outstanding reputation by again establishing a close working relationship with you, our families! So, please take a moment to visit the teacher page of this web site so that you can familiarize yourself with the pertinent contact numbers (voice mail, e-mail, web sites). As I have often emphatically stated: The communication connection is invaluable. A positive home/school connection is the firm foundation upon which student achievement is built.

The newsletter format that was started last year will continue. I have had positive feedback in regard to the practical benefits of having easy computer access to school news, parenting tips, upcoming events and PTA happenings. My hope is that you will all sign up at newsletter_buenavistaschool.org so that the newsletter will be e-mailed to you every week and then tell your friends to do the same. It is designed to be a useful addition to our home/school connection.

I also want to promote the good work done by the fabulous Buena Vista PTA. I urge you to join this energetic organization that so greatly assists our school mission: Providing for the most challenging and fulfilling environment possible for each student.
